Today’s Korean Mom Lunch: A Cozy Home Meal with Store-Bought Banchan (japchae)

Today I realized I had almost no side dishes at home,
so I went to a local banchan shop and bought a few things —
japchae, pickled perilla leaves, and stir-fried anchovies.
All of that was 12,000 won, which felt pretty reasonable.

When I got back, I quickly made some doenjang-jjigae,
and my husband and I enjoyed a simple but delicious lunch together.

Japchae is always a bit of a hassle to make,
so having it ready-made felt like a small blessing.
I sprinkled some black pepper and crushed red pepper on top
and enjoyed every single bite.
