The first snow (Cheot-nun) fell in Korea today! ❄️ Honestly, yesterday and today have been brutally cold. Just last week, it was quite warm, but suddenly I feel like I’ve been transported to Antarctica.
My daughter was so excited! She was jumping around like a puppy and rolling in the snow.

In K-Dramas, they say, “If you watch the first snow, your first love will come true.” 💕 I think I used to think about my crush when it snowed… maybe 30 years ago? Haha. I can’t even remember when that was.
By the way, I saw a YouTube video where a foreigner was disappointed with Korean winter fashion. They asked, “I thought Koreans were stylish, but why is everyone wearing boring black or white ‘bench coats’ (Long Puffer Coats)?”
But let me tell you the truth: Korean winter is no joke. It is freezing! Korea has four very distinct seasons, so clothing costs are high. Since winter jackets are expensive, we tend to buy practical colors like black that don’t get dirty easily. We are not ignoring fashion; we are choosing survival. If you try to look fashionable, you might freeze to death! 🥶
Anyway, the first snow makes the world look a bit bleak yet somehow makes my heart flutter.
But… the romance didn’t last long. My daughter is already nagging me to set up the Christmas tree. 🎄 Ugh… just thinking about pulling out the tree box makes my whole body ache. Is it just me, or does the tree get heavier every year?
